The main idea

In Punta Arenas, a 4MP IP camera, including cabling and an NVR, costs from $110,000 (nett). A package of four cameras ranges from $450,000 to $600,000 depending on the length of cable and whether they are for outdoor use. In Santiago, published prices show cameras ranging from $80,000 to $130,000, without installation.

If you’re getting quotes for cameras for a shop, warehouse, or office in Punta Arenas, the most important question isn’t “what brand?” but “what is the real cost, including installation.” This is the pricing for 2026, without the endless “it depends.”

How much does each installed camera cost?

Prices vary depending on the number of cameras, meters of cable, and whether the work is performed outdoors. This table compares the prices we charge in Punta Arenas, including cabling and NVR, against market references published for Santiago (excluding installation).

Number of cameras Price installed in Punta Arenas Reference Santiago (without installing)
One camera From $110,000 $80.000 a $130.000
Pack of 4 (small trade/retail) Approximately $450,000 to $600,000 Between $320,000 and $520,000 excluding installation costs.
Pack of 8 (medium-sized warehouse) Approximately $900,000 to $1,200,000 $640,000 to $1,040,000 excluding installation costs.

The values are net, excluding VAT. The price reference, based on published prices from domestic suppliers, comes from a market research study conducted in September 2026; it does not include labor or wiring, which, in a real installation, typically add between 30% and 60% of the equipment’s value alone.

What does the price include at Ditap Seguridad?

When we quote “starting at $110,000 per camera installed,” that already includes:

  • The 4-megapixel IP camera, with night vision.
  • The wiring should be certified up to the recorder.
  • A proportional amount of recording from the NVR (the recorder), based on the size of the package.
  • The remote access settings, which we tested on your phone before we left.

What is not included is the electrical backup for the plant if the system requires it: this is quoted separately, depending on whether you already have a UPS or if one needs to be installed.

Why Magellan costs more than Santiago.

This isn’t a capricious margin. A technician traveling to install in Punta Arenas brings equipment and expenses that a supplier in Santiago doesn’t have, and this translates to an additional charge of between 15% and 25% on the prices in the capital, according to the same market research. Furthermore, when outside the city (Puerto Natales, Porvenir, farms), we also add the travel allowance for the visit, which we currently quote at $50,000 and which is deducted from the project if it proceeds.

NVR, hard drive, and how much time remains recorded.

The price of the camera doesn’t tell you how long you’ll be able to review the recording if something happened. That’s determined by the NVR’s hard drive: with a 2TB drive and between 4 and 8 cameras recording in H.265, you can typically expect between 15 and 30 days of backup. If you need more days, you’ll need to add more storage or reduce the continuous recording resolution, and this is something to discuss during the technical visit, not after installation.

What is the price fluctuation within the package?

“The ‘starting from $110,000 per camera’ refers to an apartment, not a fixed price for any situation. Four factors influence the final number:

  • Length of cable. Using a camera 10 meters from the rack is cheaper to wire than using one 40 meters away at the other end of the warehouse.
  • Inside or outside. An outdoor camera requires weatherproofing and waterproofing; an indoor camera does not.
  • Mounting height. A camera positioned 6 meters above an industrial eaves requires a certified scaffolding or ladder; this adds to the installation time.
  • Total quantity of the pack. The NVR is distributed among more cameras when the package is larger, so the cost per camera decreases as the package grows.

That’s why the budget is finalized after the technical visit, and not before: two identical spaces can end up with different prices if one has all the wiring in a single floor, while the other distributes cameras throughout a warehouse, patio, and office.

What to ask before hiring.

  • Is the budget finalized, or can it be increased after the visit? At Ditap Seguridad, the technical visit in Punta Arenas is free of charge and concludes with a finalized budget.
  • Is the NVR going to have enough channels to add more cameras later, or do we need to replace it?
  • Who certifies the wiring, and is this documented?
  • How many days remain for recording with the disc that’s currently being traded?
